Our Pledge to the Community
- Safe Neighborhoods:
We will prevent the early release of violent criminals by guaranteeing adequate prison space to house violent criminals and we will take strong action to address the growing problem of violent crime by juveniles.
- Returning the Lottery to the Localities:
We will return lottery profits to localities to be used for education, law enforcement, or tax relief. Local communities know better than the state bureaucracy how to address local needs.
- More Jobs, Less Wasteful Government Spending:
We will promote economic growth and the creation of jobs by eliminating wasteful government spending and reducing excessive taxes.
- Improving the Quality of our Children's Education:
Our increasing investment in education must be coupled with rigorous academic standards, discipline, and high expectation, in safe schools for our students. By raising academic standards and testing students, we will make sure they are meeting basic academic requirements in reading, math, science and history.
- Parental Notification:
We will require that at least one parent be notified prior to a child under the age 18 having an abortion.
- Real Welfare Reform:
We continue to support the Republican welfare reform that saved Virginia taxpayers $130 million over five years and requires recipients to work for their benefits. We oppose Democrat plans that would increase welfare by more than $180 million in Virginia taxpayer money.
- Open and Honest Government:
We will continue to bring Honest Change to Virginia by eliminating the Democrats practice of selecting judges in closed door political meetings. Judges will be selected based on merit and their qualifications in meeting open to the public.
